Women’s Soccer Closes Regular Season with Trip to Richmond

PHILADELPHIA – The La Salle women's soccer team will close out its 18-game regular season with a trip south to face the Richmond Spiders on Sunday afternoon. The contest will stream on ESPN+.

Explorers fans can follow the team on Twitter @LaSalle_WSOC and Instagram @lasalle_wsoc.

SCOUTING THE EXPLORERS
  • The Explorers fell to No. RV Saint Louis last Sunday, 4-1, at home.
  • Haley Gschrey scored the lone goal for the Explorers, her ninth of the season and the 23rd of her career. She ranks 10th all-time on the Explorers' career goals list. Her nine goals are the most a La Salle player has scored in a season since Maci Bowser cracked double-digits with ten in 2019.
  • Auguadro has started every game this season as goalkeeper for La Salle. She is only the second player in program history who has reached the 20 clean sheet mark.
  • For La Salle's nine seniors, this will be their final time representing the blue and gold. Jillian Drumm, Sunni DiElmo, Gschrey, Gabriella Picco, Michela Auguadro, Ricshya Walker, Olivia Vricella, Stella Kahn, and Myana Bebee-Gomberg represent the class of 2025.
  • Gschrey also is tied for third in the league in assists with six. Elizabeth Estrada sits in the top ten as well, with her five helpers tying her for eighth.
  • The Explorers are led by head coach Paul Royal, who enters his 22nd season at the helm. Royal is one of the top coaches in the Atlantic 10, earning five trips to the NCAA Tournament during his tenure and has sent 16 players to the professional ranks. He was voted A-10 Coach of the Year for the fifth time last season.
  • Royal has amassed 218 wins in his head coaching career. He ranks 18th among active D1 coaches in wins at a single institution.

SCOUTING THE SPIDERS
  • Richmond has had an up-and-down season. After a 2-3-2 non-conference slate, the Spiders earned a victory in its conference opener over Duquesne, then proceeded to drop its next six matches. They are in the midst of a late-season surge, with results on the road against George Mason and St. Bonaventure.
  • The Spiders are 14th in the conference in offensive output and 11th in defense. Kelly Hutton and Kiley Fitzgerald lead the team with three goals each.
  • Adam Denton leads Richmond in his second season after a six year turn at fellow A-10 school Davidson. He is 7-20-7 in his two years in Virginia's capital city.
