Women’s Big 5 Pod Play to Begin Tomorrow at Drexel

PHILADELPHIA – Explorers women's basketball will begin Big 5 Pod play tomorrow when they travel to face the Drexel Dragons at the Daskalakis Athletic Center. This will be the first Big 5 game of the season and will mark the inaugural contest for the Dragons.

SCOUTING THE EXPLORERS:
  • The last time out the Explorers topped the University of Delaware 68-54 in the team's first contest inside the new John E. Glaser Arena.
  • Ashleigh Connor set a new career-high in points for La Salle as she tallied 21 points in the win. The r-sophomore transfer from Saint Louis is making her mark early at 20th & Olney.
  • Joan Quinn had another solid performance in her second game of her Explorer career. The freshman tallied nine points, three rebounds, and two assists in the win.
  • Aryss Macktoon and Mackenzie Daleba also helped the Blue & Gold in the win Saturday. Daleba tallied her career-high in points with ten, while also grabbing five boards.
  • Macktoon almost finished the day with a double-double. She collected ten points, and nine rebounds.
  • The Explorers and Dragons will kick off Women's Big 5 play tomorrow on Drexel's campus.
  • This season is the inaugural Women's Big 5 Classic, and this is the first pod game for any team taking place tomorrow.
  • La Salle will face off against Temple on Dec. 1 before pod play ends.
 
 
SCOUTING THE DRAGONS:
  • Drexel has played just one game this season, topping Marist 64-53 last Thursday at home.
  • This win is coming after a 19-15 overall record in 2023-24 and a CAA Championship for Drexel. This marked the third CAA Championship in program history for the Dragons, taking down Stony Brook in the finals.
  • Drexel would then go onto the NCAA Tournament where they fell at the hands of the top-seeded Texas Longhorns in Austin.
  • Amaris Baker returns to Drexel this season after a dominant 2023-24 season for the senior from Philly.
  • Baker averaged 11.7 points per game for Drexel last year, and also managed to be amongst one of the top rebounders last year with 4.1 per game.
  • Sophomore Laine McGurk also returns to the Dragons for the 2024-25 season. As a freshman she played in 29 games and averaged 6.4 points per game.
