Women’s Basketball to Face American University on the Road

WASHINGTON, D.C. – La Salle women's basketball will hit the road again and travel to our Nation's capital to take on the American University Eagles at 2:00 PM on ESPN+. La Salle enters the game at 2-3 this season, while American is still in search for their first win of the 2024-25 season as they sit at 0-4.

SCOUTING THE EXPLORERS:
  • The Blue & Gold fought back in a tough battle last time out against Rider on Wednesday night. The Explorers, led by Ashleigh Connor, made a late comeback down the stretch.
  • Connor sunk two free throws with 1.2 seconds on the clock to seal the win for La Salle. Connor finished the game with 20 points, and drew 10 fouls, including the one that won the game for La Salle.
  • La Salle hit a number of season-highs as a team in the win over Rider Wednesday. The Explorers tied a season-high in made three-point shots (8), and set new season-highs in free-throws made (11), free-throws attempted (20), steals (15), and blocked shots (3).
  • The Explorers as a team have been collecting rebounds efficiently throughout the early parts of the 2024-25 season. Pulling in 205 rebounds in all, La Salle has corralled 137 defensive boards through the first five games, and 68 on the offensive side of the court.
  • La Salle has six players who have pulled in 21 or more rebounds this season. Mackenzie Daleba and Jolene Armendariz sit atop the rebounding list for La Salle this season as each of them average 6.0 rebounds per game.
  • This will be the 4th meeting all-time between the two programs. The last time the teams met was back in November of 2023, where the Explorers came out on top 62-53.
  • The Explorers are win-less when playing American on the road in the short history of the match up.
  • Aryss Macktoon is the lone Explorer that saw action against the Eagles last season. She finished the contest with seven points, eight rebounds, two blocks, and two steals.
 
SCOUTING THE EAGLES:
  • The Eagles enter the contest against La Salle in search of their first win of the season as they have started 2024 0-4.
  • American dropped their opening bout of the season to Virginia on the road 104-68 before returning home to lose a close battle against FDU 62-59.
  • Last season, the Eagles finished the year with a 10-22 overall record, and an 8-10 Patriot League record. American fell in the first round of the Patriot League Tournament to the Bucknell Bison 77-71.
  • Cecilia Kay is a name for the Explorers to keep their eye out for. The freshman forward has taken over in her first season as an Eagle as she is averaging 12 points per game, as well as 8.5 rebounds.
  • The Massachusetts native dropped a career-high 15 points in American's last game against UMBC.
  • Anna Rescifina sits behind Kay in scoring this season for the Eagles. She sits averaging 9.8 points per game with her season-high 19 points coming in the loss to FDU.
