Explorers to Take on Delaware in First Game at John Glaser Arena

PHILADELPHIA – La Salle women's basketball is set to play their first ever game at the newly renovated John Glaser Arena tomorrow on Homecoming when they play host to the Delaware Blue Hens. La Salle comes into the game 0-1, looking to rebound off of a tough loss to Maine earlier in the week.

SCOUTING THE EXPLORERS:
  • Fresh faces led the way in the season-opener for La Salle on Monday. Ayisse Magassa secured 13 points, 3 rebounds, and 3 steals in her Explorer debut.
  • Joan Quinn also stood out against Maine. In her first collegiate basketball game the freshman tallied 12 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 steals.
  • Saint Louis transfer Ashleigh Connor finished the day with 8 points, 4 rebounds, and 1 three-point basket conversion.
  • The Explorers as a team were able to take care of the basketball, while also being extremely effective on the defensive end of the court.
  • La Salle had a +6.0-turnover margin against Maine on Monday. The Blue & Gold swiped 14 steals.
  • La Salle basketball will enter a new era as they embark on the opening on the newly renovated John E. Glaser Arena tomorrow against Delaware.
  • The venue will feature a 360-degree bowl, state-of-the-art video boards and audio, and a new HVAC system.
  • An enhanced concession experience will also provide the fans with multiple touch-points to purchase food and drinks in the building.
  • Tomorrow will mark the first meeting between Delaware and La Salle in over a decade. The last meeting between the local schools was in 2010 in Philadelphia where the Blue Hens came out on top.
  • La Salle holds the all-time record against Delaware 16-10 in a match up that dates back to 1978.
 
 
SCOUTING THE BLUE HENS:
  • Delaware is most recently coming off of a loss at the hands of the George Washington Revolutionaries to kick off the 2024-25 season. The Revs topped Delaware 78-66 on Monday.
  • Delaware is looking to rebound from a difficult 2023-24 season in which they finished with an 11-20 overall record. The team narrowly lost to Drexel in last year's CAA Playoff Tournament 57-55 in the first round.
  • Despite the loss to GW, the Blue Hens had four players in double-digits by the end of the night. Alieghya Bartholomew finished the opening game with 14 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists, and 3 steals.
  • Tara Cousins, Rebecca Demke, and, Ande'a Cherisier followed behind Bartholomew with 13, 12, and 11 points respectively.
  • Bartholomew is a junior transfer from Gulf Coast State and is making an early mark as a Blue Hen.
