Women’s Basketball to Begin Conference Play at Loyola Chicago

PHILADELPHIA – La Salle women's basketball will travel to the Windy City for the 2024-25 season's first Atlantic 10 Conference contest. The Explorers enter at 4-4 while Loyola Chicago sits at 5-3 this season. The game will be streamed on ESPN+ beginning at 6:00 PM EST.

SCOUTING THE EXPLORERS:
  • The last time out for La Salle featured a Big 5 battle with Temple, in which the Owls came out on top 73-68.
  • Aryss Macktoon led the Explorers in points scored yesterday with 14. Ashleigh Connor, Ayisse Magassa, and Jolene Armendariz also contributed scoring 12, 12, and 11 points, respectively.
  • The Explorers will be taking part in the inaugural Big 5 Championship this upcoming Friday on the campus of Villanova University.
  • La Salle will be playing Penn in the 5th place game beginning at 3:30 PM. The game will be aired on NBC Sports Philadelphia Plus.
  • The Explorers as a team have been collecting rebounds efficiently throughout the early parts of the 2024-25 season.
  • Pulling in 323 rebounds in all, La Salle has corralled 208 defensive boards through the first six games, and 115 on the offensive side of the court.
  • La Salle has seven players who have pulled in 24 or more rebounds this season. Ashleigh Connor leads the Explorers with 50 total rebounds this season, pulling in 6.3 per game.
 
 
SCOUTING THE RAMBLERS:
  • Loyola Chicago enters the season at 5-3 overall this year. The Ramblers most recent win came against South Carolina State on Saturday by a score of 67-39.
  • That win comes off the heels of two-straight losses. Last season the Ramblers finished 15-16 overall, 8-10 in A-10 Conference play.
  • Loyola Chicago topped Fordham in the first round of the postseason tournament before falling to the eventual conference champion Richmond Spiders in the second round of the tournament.
  • The Ramblers have been firing on offense and have three players averaging double-digit scoring this season. Kira Chivers leads the way with 10.3 points per game this season, her season-high 17 coming against Northwestern.
  • Chivers is as efficient as it gets when it comes to shooting. She is 50% from the field this season making 27/54 shots.
  • Naelle Bernard follows Chivers with 10.1 PPG, and Jess Finney comes into the contest with 10.0 PPG.
