SCOUTING THE EXPLORERS:
- The 2024 season got off to a great start for the Explorers last Friday with a 19-10 win over the Fairleigh Dickinson Knights on the road. This win was the first since the end of the 2022 season after a winless 2023.
- Katie Johnson had a career-game against the Knights. The junior attacker scored six goals on eight shots, and assisted twice on other goals totaling eight points. All of which set career-highs for Johnson.
- Mackenzie Click had a stellar performance to open her senior year campaign. Click totaled four goals, a career-high for her as well. Click also was able to corral 15 draw controls in the contest, more than half of the team's total for the game (22).
- Alana Lathan, last year's goal leader, scored four goals for the Explorers against FDU, another career-high. Lathan also had three assists on the day, tied for the team leader in that category in the opening game.
- The Explorers scored the most goals in a game since the 2021 season against FDU. In that year, La Salle topped St. Joe's 20-14 on April 25, 2021.
- Five different Explorers had multigoal games last time out. Johnson (6), Click (4), Lathan (4), Ellen Stickney (2), and Gina D'Angelo (2).
- D'Angelo is a newcomer to La Salle after she spent time at Elon, but comes to 20th & Olney as a junior this season.
- Rookie goalkeeper Brooke Nelson did not start the game in net, but made an appearance and shined. Nelson had five saves on the day during her time between the pipes.
- Last season, La Salle traveled to face the Villanova Wildcats on the road and fell 16-7. Maddie Henderson scored two goals for the Blue & Gold in that game, leading the team.
SCOUTING THE WILDCATS:
- Villanova enters the contest sitting at 1-1 with a formidable resume thus far in the young season.
- Last time out Nova topped Bucknell 16-12 for their first win of the season. The first game for the Wildcats was a match up with the #17 Southern California Trojans.
- The Wildcats fell 11-12, but made a late-game comeback to close the Trojan lead. Down 12-9 with 5:17 remaining in the game, Nova went on a three-goal run, but could not find the tying goal in the end.
- A familiar foe in Sydney Pappas returns for the Wildcats this season and is already making her mark on the young 2024. Pappas leads Villanova with nine goals, nine points, and 14 shots this season.
- Last year, Pappas scored six goals for Nova, helping them to beat the Explorers 16-7.
- Cate Gallagher has made two starts in net for Nova this season and enters tomorrow with a .455 save percentage.
