Women's Basketball To Play Host To West Chester On Tuesday

Philadelphia, PA – The La Salle women's basketball team will take on D-II West Chester at home on Tuesday at 6:30 PM as the team celebrates Philadelphia Night. The Explorers are off to a 3-1 start for the first time since 2022-23.

Scouting the Rams

West Chester enters Tuesday's matchup at 1-1. The Rams earned a 72-33 win over Salem on Friday before falling 71-68 to Glenville State the next day. They also played an exhibition at Saint Joseph's on November 4, dropping a 69-46 decision. Through two regular-season games, seven different Rams have scored at least 12 points, led by sophomore guard Bella Mazur at 12.0 points per game. Freshman forward Lena Stein scored 17 points against Glenville State, while freshman Kimi Sayson hit three three-pointers against Salem. Head coach Kiera Wooden is in her 12th season and owns a 176-120 career record. She is a three-time PSAC East Coach of the Year and was a standout player for the Rams, holding the program record for field goals made (569) and ranking second in rebounds (871) and third in steals (259).

La Salle and West Chester have met three times, all between 1980 and 1981, with the Explorers winning all three by a combined 33 points. This is the first meeting between the programs in over 30 years.

20-20-20 Vision

Against Lehigh, Aryss Macktoon, Ashleigh Connor, and Joan Quinn became the first trio in program history to each score 20 or more points in the same game as La Salle earned an 81-70 road win. Macktoon added eight steals, and the three combined for 15 rebounds and nine assists.

Career Games

Through the first three games, several Explorers have set new career highs. Macktoon posted career bests of 25 points and 10 rebounds at Loyola (MD), while Connor set new highs with nine made free throws and 14 attempts. Connor later scored a career-high 22 points and tied her best with five assists against both Saint Francis and Lehigh. Quinn recorded a career-high five steals against Saint Francis, while Macktoon added a career-best eight at Lehigh.

La Salle is averaging more than 15 additional points per game compared to last season and is shooting nearly 50 percent from the field. Connor leads the team with 19.5 points per game on 54.5 percent shooting and 60.0 percent from three.

New Faces

Freshman Kiara Williams has averaged 9.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 3.5 assists on 80 percent shooting. Freshman Amiya Moses had four blocks in 12 minutes at Temple. Senior Ivona Miljanic has provided steady production off the bench with 3.5 points and 3.0 rebounds per game. Freshmen Ava Hoy, India Webb, and Charity Sawyer all made their debuts at Temple, with Hoy recording a block and Webb grabbing a rebound.
