Lacrosse Drops Midweek Match To UMBC

Box Score BALTIMORE – La Salle women's lacrosse lost to UMBC on the road by a score of 18-3 Wednesday afternoon. The hosts began to pull away early in the second quarter to secure its third win of the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Redshirt junior Alana Lathan scored the opening goal of the game, putting the Explorers up one with 10:57 left in the first quarter.
  • UMBC scored two quick ones to take the lead.
  • Lathan got her second with 5:29 left in the first to tie it at two.
  • The Retrievers put two past junior goalie Mary Babbage to end the first quarter up 4-2.
  • In the second quarter, it was all UMBC. The hosts scored five to enter the half 9-2.
  • After a couple of goals by the hosts, junior Sam Klein scored off an assist from junior Molly Maloney with 5:21 left in the third.
  • Similar to the second quarter, the fourth was all Retrievers, as the home team were accountable for all of the five goals scored in the quarter.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
  • Babbage made 12 saves in the game for the Explorers, matching a season-high for her for saves in a game.
  • Lathan, who scored a brace, led the team in shots (five) and shots on goal (four).
  • Clear attempts were 22-16 in La Salle's favor. La Salle successfully cleared 14 of its 22 attempts.
