Box Score Bronx, NY – The La Salle women's basketball team lost to Fordham Wednesday night, falling by a score of 72-51.
Junior
Ayisse Magassa led the team in scoring with nine points.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Fordham started the game on a 6-0 run, before Magassa hit a jumper with 7:34 remaining in the first.
- Junior Ivy Fox, coming in off the bench, hit shots on back-to-back Explorers possession to trim the deficit to three with 48 seconds left. A made layup by sophomore Aryss Macktoon sent the Explorers down only one entering the second quarter.
- To start the second, both teams traded shots to keep it a one-point game. Magassa had a pair of layups to pace La Salle's offense.
- The hosts went on an 14-2 run to build its lead to 13, before a fast break layup by Magassa stopped the run with 1:31 left in the half. La Salle ended up down at half by a score of 37-25.
- After halftime, the Rams continued to grow its lead, outscoring the Explorers 17-11 in the third quarter. La Salle's 11 points came from seven different players.
- In the final frame, Fordham maintained its lead in a back-and-forth shooting contest. Graduate student Jolene Armedariz and junior Ty'renisha Bowers each made threes in the quarter.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Macktoon led the team in steals with five, her most in a game since her performance against Northern Kentucky on Dec. 20 (six).
- Magassa and Macktoon led in rebounds with seven each. For Magassa, it was her seventh game with at least seven rebounds.
- Quinn's five assists in the game tied a season-high for her.
