Lacrosse to Begin 2025 Season Saturday Against Delaware State

DOVER, Del. – The La Salle women's lacrosse team will start its 2025 regular season against the Delaware State Hornets on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. The game will be streamed on NEC Front Row.

SCOUTING THE EXPLORERS:
  • The team is looking to improve off of last season, when the team finished 3-11 in 2024.
  • Brooke Nelson and Mary Babbage, the squad's two goalies last season, will be returning this season. Combined, the duo made a total of 149 saves.
  • Nelson, who played in eight games last year, has a GAA of 9.3, which currently ranks second in all-time program history.
  • Katie Johnson will also return to rep the Blue and Gold this year. Johnson led the team in 2024 in the following categories: goals (35), assists (8), points (43), and shots (73). In her game against FDU last February, she scored a career-high six goals en route to a 19-10 win.
  • Alana Lathan and Ellen Stickney, who were fourth and fifth in goals and points last season, return for the new campaign. Stickney's seven assists were the second most on the team.
  • The Explorers welcome a few new transfers to the team. Emi Waldron and Jade Shearer will each begin their first seasons with the team this weekend.
  • Waldron, a junior transfer from Sacred Heart University, played in all her team's game last season.
  • Shearer, a junior transfer from Youngstown State University, played in four games for her team last year, and recorded 17 goals and four assists while playing there the last two seasons.
  • There will be 11 freshmen on the team this season. They include: Alexis Fields, Zoe Francone, Tia Jack, Sara Geyer, Meghan Hoynes, Tess Waltrich, Natalie Burmeister, Auria Mullins, Brooke Nabb, Abby Morrison, and Bri McClain.
SCOUTING THE HORNETS:
  • Like the Explorers, the Hornets officially start its 2025 season with this weekend's game.
  • The Hornets are looking to build off last season where it finished 2-13.
  • Zahra Gotz, a junior, returns to the squad. She was second in goals for the team last year with 19 and third in points with 21.
  • In goal is junior Kimaari Mondy. Last year, she played in 11 games, recording 55 saves and playing a total of 462 minutes.
  • The Hornets are led by head coach Madeline Price.
