Dosch Shoots 67 In First Round, Takes Home Medalist Honors At Matthews Auto Collegiate Invitational

Apalachin, NY – The La Salle men's golf team finished as runners-up at the Matthews Auto Collegiate Invitational at The Links at Hiawatha, highlighted by senior Gavin Dosch earning individual medalist honors following a first-round 67.


Dosch's first-round 67 was the lowest round by an Explorer since 2024 and helped the Explorers to a seven-stroke team lead heading into Monday. He and Logan Paczewski each made an eagle on Sunday, as the two combined to shoot nine-under. The two tied for first in par-five scoring and also tied for second in par-three scoring.

Junior Payton Hawke also turned in an under-par round on Sunday, carding a 1-under 71. Billy Pabst and Kyle Virsik added a pair of 4-over 76's to round out the Explorers' scoring lineup.

Dosch followed his opening-round 67 with a 2-over 72 on Monday to finish at 5-under, earning individual medalist honors. Paczewski finished even at 144 to place fourth, while Hawke and Pabst each finished at 11-over. Virsik finished at 14-over.

Playing as individuals, Jack Ross finished tied for 13th at 4-over, while Sam Parker finished tied for 31st at 9-over.

As a team, La Salle finished at 14-over (590), four strokes behind champion Bucknell. They ranked first in the field in par-four scoring average and second with 30 team birdies. The Explorers also recorded three eagles, which led the field, plus a fourth from individual competitor Jack Ross.

The Explorers return to action next weekend at the Bucknell Invitational, running Sunday through Tuesday.
