Acrobatics & Tumbling Sets Program-Best Score In Win Over Presbyterian

Philadelphia, PA – La Salle Acrobatics and Tumbling set a program-best score in a 245.720-236.135 victory over Presbyterian in the Explorers' first home meet on Wednesday night inside John E. Glaser Arena.

La Salle led wire-to-wire and won four out of six events, but pulled away in the final two events after leading by just 0.300 following the toss, which is the fourth of six events.

It was the first home competition for La Salle after the originally scheduled home opener against Stevenson on February 20 resulted in a forfeit victory.

In addition to a program-best overall score, La Salle set new program-highs in four events: Compulsory (34.800), toss (25.150), tumbling (50.700), and team (80.320).

The Explorers won five out of six heats in the fifth event – tumbling – to open a 165.400-160.475 advantage entering the ultimate team event. La Salle then claimed an 80.320-75.660 advantage in the team to come away with its third victory in four meets on the season.

In the individual tumbling passes portion of the tumbling event, La Salle posted three scores in the nines. Makynna Cottemond scored a 9.225 in the aerial pass, Sophia Mackow put up a 9.550 in the 6-element pass, and Brooke Rutkowitz notched a 9.275 in the open pass.

La Salle opened the night with an exclamation, setting a new high with a 34.800 in the opening event – the compulsory. The Explorers scored a 9.100 in acro, 9.350 in pyramid, 9.450 in toss, and 6.900 in tumbling to set the mark in the compulsory, winning all four heats.

La Salle has a long break before returning to action on March 26 at Long Island. The Explorers then return home that weekend, hosting Georgian Court for senior day on March 29.
