Golf Wins Immaculata Invitational; Fewell, Johnson Tie For Second

AVONDALE, Pa
. - The La Salle golf team ran away with the Immaculata Invitational on Monday, capturing the team title by 12 strokes to wrap up its fall schedule at Inniscrone Golf Course. Sophomores Tyler Fewell and Mike Johnson each carded 73s on Monday to tie for second in the 70-player field.

The team title marks the third invitational win in the past year. The Explorers also won the Swarthmore Fall and Spring Invitationals in 2010-11.

On Monday, La Salle shot a team score of 303 to add to a first round total of 292. The 36-hole score of 595 (+35) bested SUNY Delhi by 12 strokes.

Fewell and Johnson shot identical 72-73=145 (+5) scores and lost in a match of cards to Swarthmore's Andrew Park (74-71=145).

Senior Randy Kurzinsky shot a consistent 74-75=149 (+9) to finish sixth. Sophomore Chris Costantino (74-82=156, +16) tied for 17th while freshman Greg Goodreds (78-82=160, +20) tied for 25th.

La Salle will resume competition in March. The Atlantic 10 Championship is slated for Heron Bay Golf Club in Coral Springs, Fla. on April 27-29.
