CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - The #14 Explorers fell 4-0 to #3 Saint Louis in the opening round of the 2011 Atlantic 10 Women’s Tennis Championships at the Boar’s Head Sports Club.

The Billikens took the doubles point after defeating Kiara Smith and Leah Garrison at No. 1 doubles, 8-0, and Pearl Wilkins and Jenna Manzione at No. 3 doubles, 8-0.

In singles competition, La Salle dropped the No. 1, 2, 4 and 5 matchups.

Garrison won a point against Saint Louis’ Jenny Nalepa before the match ended.

Tomorrow, the Explorers will face the loser of this afternoon’s match between #6 Duquesne and #11 Saint Joseph’s.  Competition is slated to begin at 8:00 a.m.
