PHILADELPHIA - The La Salle University women's tennis team nearly came up with its first win of the season on Sunday afternoon, falling by a 3-2 margin to Hofstra at Legacy Tennis Center. The Explorers honored a pair of seniors prior to the match:

Jazmin Walle.
HOW IT HAPPENED

- Hofstra's duo won five consecutive games to take control, before the Explorers fought back to win the next two. The Pride, however, eventually clinched the match and the point, 6-3.
- In singles, Nikolic and freshman Isa Leano won their matches in straight sets to give La Salle a 2-1 edge, before Hofstra won its match at No. 2 to tie it up.
- Walle fought back from a narrow 6-4 loss in the first set of her matchup with Isabella Tonuzi, winning 6-1 to force a decisive third.
- The two players went back and forth and appeared headed to a tiebreaker, before Tonuzi earned a 7-5 win by breaking serve in the final game.
