Women's Soccer Visits Richmond, VCU This Weekend


PHILADELPHIA - The La Salle women's soccer team continues its Atlantic 10 Conference schedule with a pair of matches in Virginia this weekend vs. Richmand and VCU.

Scouting the Explorers

La Salle enters the weeknd winners of its last five, outscoring opponents 11-2 in that span. Four of those wins have been in shutout fashion. In its opening A-10 conference weekend, the Explorers knocked off St. Bonaventure and Duquesne, both by 1-0. Both La Salle goals came off the foot of Anna Dolhansky en route to being named GoExplorers.com Student-Athlete of the Week.

Sophomore F Kelsey Haycook ranks second in the A-10 in points (17) and goals (7). Three of her goals turned out to be game winners for La Salle. Junior GK Gabrielle Pakhtigian has posted four shutouts on the year, good for a share of the A-10 lead. As a team, the Explorers rank second in the conference in points (70) and goals (23). They also rank second in assists (24) and shutouts (5).

Scouting the Spiders

Richmond split in its opening A-10 weekend, knocking off George Washington 2-0 and falling to Charlotte by the same score. Junior F Becca Wann has paced the Spiders with five goals in just four games since her return from Japan after competing for the U.S. U-20 National Team this summer. She was the A-10 Offensive Player of the year a season ago after netting 15 goals and tallying 109 points. Since her return, Richmond is 3-1 and have outscored their opponents 6-2.

Scouting the Rams


VCU split a pair last weekend as well, falling 2-1 in overtime to Charlotte and defeating George Washington 2-0. The Rams have remarkably reached overtime in five of their 12 games this year, going 1-1-3 in those contests. Junior F Courtney Conrad leads the Rams with five goals and 10 points. Senior GK Kristen Carden has posted four shutouts and shares the A-10 conference lead in that category.

The Explorers host a pair next weekend, drawing George Washington on Fri, Oct. 12 and Charlotte on Sun, Oct. 14.
