Charlottesville, Va. – The women's tennis team ended its 2011-12 season with a 4-0 loss to #3 Richmond in the first round of the 2012 Atlantic 10 women's tennis championship held at the Boar's Head Sports Club.
La Salle dropped the doubles point after sophomore
Chloe Trave and junior
Kiara Smith fell 8-0 at No. 2 doubles and seniors
Courtney Babo and
Pearl Wilkins fell 8-1 in the No. 3 position.
Junior
Elli Vamvakitis and freshman
Celesta Smith were still on the court at No. 1 doubles, trailing 7-1, when the doubles competition ended.
In singles play, C. Smith went down 6-0, 6-0 at the No. 2 position. Babo, at No. 5 singles and junior
Sarah Chambers, at No. 6 singles, also fell by 6-0, 6-0 scores.
K. Smith, Vamvakitis and Trave were unfinished in their at No. 1, No. 3 and No. 4 singles matches, respectively.
Richmond moves on to the second round against the winner of the #6 George Washington/#11 Saint Joseph's match.
