Field Hockey Visits Virginia For Contests Against Robert Morris, Liberty

LYNCHBURG, Va. – La Salle field hockey hits the road for a pair of games this weekend in Lynchburg, Va. against host Liberty and Robert Morris.  

Scouting the Explorers

La Salle is coming off a tough 4-3 loss to city rival Penn. The Quakers scored a goal with six minutes left to break a 3-3 tie and leave DeVincent Field with a victory over the host Explorers.

Sophomore Colleen Kempf had a goal and an assist in the loss and has five points in her last two games. Senior Maddie Doub and sophomore Maddy Tettelbach also scored for the Explorers, who have dropped three one-goal games in their last four contests.

Junior Mariel Papa and senior Becca Chylack tie for the team lead in points with seven on three goals and an assist. Overall, nine different Explorers have scored goals this season for head coach Michelle Marks.

Sophomore Lisa Shaffer is among the A-10 leaders in saves and saves per game as a goalkeeper.

La Salle is 6-1 all-time versus Robert Morris and it will be the first meeting against Liberty.

Scouting the Colonials
Robert Morris has dropped three straight games after starting the season 3-1. Two of the losses were by one goal, to Lock Haven (3-2, OT) and Ohio (2-1). RMU defeated Radford (2-0), Appalachian State (3-1) and Saint Louis (4-1) earlier this season.
 
Jamie Hartley leads the Colonials in scoring with four goals, three assists for 11 points. The Australia native earned second team all-NEC honors last season as a freshman.
 
Another Australian, Jess Martin-Brown, has scored four goals for RMU and the international duo has combined for eight of the team's 14 goals. Overall Robert Morris has seven players from Australia, which is home to head coach Olivia Netzler, a former all-region player at Louisville.
 
Paige Neat (1.57 GAA, .714 save pct.) and Erin McKenzie (2.47 GAA, .692 save pct.) have split time in goal for RMU.

Scouting the Flames

Liberty also comes into this weekend with a 3-4 record and hosts Robert Morris on Friday afternoon. The Flames defeated Lehigh (1-0), Georgetown (4-1), and Radford (2-1, OT) this season and have lost to Saint Joseph's (2-1), William and Mary (0-3), Penn (5-4) and Longwood (3-1).

Five different Liberty players have scored, led by three freshmen. Sarah Gipe has four goals, followed by Natalie Barr and Abby Basom each have three goals.  

Brooke Morley has made 41 saves and holds a 2.06 GAA.

The Flames went 6-11 last season.
