LYNCHBURG, Va. - Liberty scored twice in the first four minutes and never looked back in handing La Salle a 3-1 defeat on Sunday afternoon. Junior Olivia Shoemaker scored with 27 seconds left for her second goal of the weekend.

Liberty (5-4) freshmen Sarah Gipe recorded goals at the 2:45 and 3:47 mark to give the Flames a quick 2-0 lead. The hosts added an insurance goal in the 53rd minute when Natalie Barr found the back of the cage.

Shoemaker netted her team-best fourth tally of the game just before the final horn to get the Explorers (3-7) on the board.

Sophomore Lisa Shaffer made a season-high 12 saves in defeat. Liberty goalkeeper Brooke Morley had six saves.

The Flames held a 21-9 advantage in shots and a 6-4 lead in corners.

La Salle returns home for a pair of non-conference games next weekend beginning with Bryant on Friday at 4 PM.
