PHILADELPHIA - Butler (11-7, 2-1 A-10) held La Salle (5-13, 1-2 A-10) to a 24 percent (16-66) clip from the field in a 59-42 Bulldog win Sunday afternoon at Tom Gola Arena.
Daress McClung did it all for the Bulldogs, posting 19 points, nine rebounds, seven blocks, five assists, and three steals. She was joined in double figures by teammate LIz Stratman, who poured in 12 off the bench. As a team, Butler shot 38 percent (24-64) for the afternoon, including a 24 percent (5-21) mark from behind the arc and a 67 percent (6-9) line from the charity stripe.
The Explorers were once again paced by
Brittany Wilson (6-19 FG, 1-9 3PT, 4-6 FT), who added eight rebounds, two assists, two blocks, and three steals to her stat line.
Shanel Harrison registered an 11 points, 12 rebound performance while
Ebonee Jones chipped in with eight points in 32 minutes.
La Salle began the first half strong, boasting a 14-12 lead before Butler rattled off an 18-7 run heading into halftime. The Bulldogs kept their feet on the gas pedal coming out of the break and outscored the Blue and Gold 29-21 in the second period.
The Explorers outrebounded the visitors 50-40, including 21 of the offensive variety.
La Salle is back in action next Sunday, when Temple will wecome the Explorers at 2 PM.
