Scouting the Explorers

The Explorers dropped a 59-42 decision to A-10 newcomer Butler last Sunday. Brittany Wilson led the squad with 17 points, and Shanel Harrison added a double-double of 11 points and 12 rebounds. The team looks to shake off a 24.2 percent shooting clip last Sunday.

Wilson retains the top spot in the Atlantic 10 in scoring, averaging 18.2 points per game. She also ranks in the top 15 in rebounding with 6.7 boards per game. Shanel Harrison adds 9.8 ppg and 6.3 rpg, and Ebonee Jones chips in 9.4 points and 4.8 rebounds.

As a team, the Explorers rank third in the Atlantic 10 with 4.9 blocked shots per game and third in the league with 15.4 offensive rebounds per game. Scouting the Owls

Temple is coming off of a 59-51 Big 5 win over Penn on Wednesday night, behind 15 points from Victoria Macaulay. Two other Owls hit double figures, with Tyonna Williams adding 13 points and Sally Kabengano chipping in 10.

Macaulay leads the Owls with 14.4 ppg, ranking her seventh in the Atlantic 10. She also leads defensively, pulling down a team-best 9.0 rebounds per game to rank fifth in the A-10 in that category. Rateska Brown is the one other Owl averaging double figures, chipping in 10.6 ppg, mostly off the bench. Williams adds 9.7 ppg to round out the top three scorers.

The Owls score 56.8 ppg as a team, while yielding 57.8 to opponents. The squad lost the services of 2012 Atlantic 10 Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year Shey Peddy to graduation and has struggled at times, but does have a win over Syracuse to its resume this season before suffering a six-game losing streak heading into the new year.
