PHILADELPHIA - Reigning Atlantic 10 Pitcher of the Year and recent Saint Joseph's graduate
Taryn Ashway has been added to the La Salle softball staff as an assistant coach, announced by Head Coach
Ron Shoemaker.
"I am so excited and blessed for this opportunity to be a part of the La Salle softball coaching staff," Ashway said. "This program has a lot of potential and I am looking forward to sharing my passion and knowledge of the game to help this team reach its goals."
Ashway brings a wealth of pitching experience to 20th and Olney, where she will work with a solid group of Explorer hurlers. She led the Atlantic 10 last season with a scant 1.62 ERA en route to earning Pitcher of the Year honors, and set a new St. Joe's mark for wins with a 26-3 record. The NFCA All-Region First Team pick also led the Hawks to the regular season title and to the A-10 championship title game. She amassed 172 strikeouts to just 35 walks in regular season play.
The Waynesboro, Pa., native graduated with a degree in Criminal Justice in May and will pursue a graduate degree at La Salle.
