The Explorers and Blue Devils have met just twice before, and this marks the second straight year the squads face off. La Salle won 70-46 last season in New Britain behind 22 points each from graduated seniors
Ebonee Jones and
Brittany Wilson. The one other meeting was 20 years prior to that when the Explorers won a 96-63 decision in the La Salle Invitational.
Scouting the Explorers
Khristin Lee recorded a double-double and the Explorers erased a 17-point halftime deficit, but fell just short in a 64-59 setback at Fairfield on Monday evening. Lee, who ranked fifth nationally in the last NCAA stats run on Monday, added another four steals on Monday night to maintain her 4.0 spg average.
The Explorers captured their first win of the season just a day prior, winning 72-62 at Manhattan thanks to a 19-4 second half run. Lee and
Alicia Cropper drained 17 points each in the victory.
A trio of players are averaging double figures through four games, including Lee, Cropper and rookie
Micahya Owens. Cropper leads the squad with a 13.5 ppg scoring clip, Lee is scoring 13.3 ppg and Owens chips in 11.5 ppg.
Siobhan Beslow continues to lead the team in rebounding, pulling down 8.5 boards per game.
Leeza Burdgess is averaging 6.8 rebounds while chipping in 7.3 points, and Lee is up to 6.3 rpg thanks to her 10-rebound performance at Fairfield.
Scouting the Blue Devils
The Blue Devils are 3-2 entering the weekend, and are currently on a three-game win streak. They dropped their first two games at UCF and South Florida before topping Rhode Island, New Hampshire and Hartford. They are coming off of their 82-50 win over Hartford this past Tuesday night.
Senior Jessica Babe leads is the lone Blue Devil in double figures, scoring 13.2 points per game. Lauren Arbogast is just shy of double figures, with 9.8 ppg. Kaley Watras chips in 8.6 ppg.
Babe also leads the squad with 6.8 rebounds per game and dishes out 5.0 assists per contest while snagging 2.8 steals per game. Arbogast is also strong on the boards, pulling down 6.3 per game.
CCSU is shooting an even 36 percent as a team and just 27.8 percent from long range. The Blue Devils average 59.6 ppg while giving up 61.2 ppg to opponents.
