PHILADELPHIA—Junior
Kelsey Haycook has been named Atlantic 10 Player of the Week for the third time this season and the seventh time in her career, as announced by the conference office today.
Haycook had a hand in each of La Salle's goals in the 2-0 defeat of Dayton, who had been previously unbeaten in conference play.
In the 11
th minute,
Jessika Kagan crossed the ball into the box and found Haycook. who sent the ball back to Dwyer at the 18 to set up a one-timed shot to the upper right corner for the eventual game-winner.
As the first frame was winding down, Haycook finished a cross from
Deja Davis with a header inside the far post. The goal was the junior's 14th of the season and gave La Salle the definitive 2-0 lead.
Against George Mason, Haycook chipped in two assists, including the game-winner, in La Salle's 5-0 rout of the Patriots. Haycook's fancy footwork beat George Mason goalkeeper Lyndsey Hokanson and set up Kagan to drive the ball to the back of the net for the eventual game-winner. Haycook also assisted on La Salle's 4th goal of the game.
The weekend's two wins propelled the Explorers into the No. 2 seed entering the 2013 Atlantic 10 Championship later this week.
The Point Pleasant, N.J. native currently leads the league in points (38) and is tied for first in goals (14).
