PHILADELPHIA - Women's soccer senior Ashley Chilcoat has been named GoExplorers.com Student-Athlete of the Week for September 16, it was announced today. The New Freedom, Pa. native played a large role in the Explorers' back-to-back shutout victories last week over Villanova and Loyola (Md.)

Chilcoat has been a staunch defender for the Explorers and has played in every match during her four years at La Salle. Starting in both games during last week's action, Chilcoat's defensive prowess helped propel the Explorers to back-to-back shut outs.  In addition, Chilcoat netted her first goal of the season on Sunday vs. Loyola (Md.), only the second goal of her collegiate career. Later in the game, she assisted teammate Renee Washington's goal in the 71st minute. Ashley's versatility as a player has allowed her to not only be one of the league's top defenders, but an offensive threat as well.

Chilcoat's squad is 6-1-0 heading into Thursday's away contest at Connecticut.
