Scouting the Explorers...

The Explorers have been on a roll, sweeping a pair of home Atlantic 10 games last weekend to jump out into first place in the league standings. The Explorers are now a perfect 5-0 on home turf, and look to extend that success on the road. Kendall Kreider struck for a pair of goals in a 2-1 win over VCU on Friday, before Maddy Tettelbach hit two on Sunday in a 2-1 comeback upset win over Richmond. The senior midfielder's goals capped off one of the best games in years for the Explorer program, which snapped the Spiders' 13-year win streak in the series. Tettelbach earned Atlantic 10 Player of the Week for the accomplishment. Sophomore keeper Rachel Hartman combined for 17 saves in the two games, including 11 stops against Richmond, to continue her stellar season. She also earned accolades for her play, as she was named the PhilaFieldHockey.com Defender of the Week among nominees from over 100 area colleges, high schools, club and youth programs.

Hartman currently ranks second nationally with an impressive .846 save percentage, just .03 off of the top spot held by Stanford's Dulcie Davies. She also ranks sixth nationally with 7.70 saves per game and 15th in the nation with a 1.34 goals against average. In the last seven games, opponents have snuck just 1.08 goals per game against her as the Explorers have gone 6-1 in that stretch.

The starting defensive unit of Olivia Leaman, Jenica Miller and Eileen Dzwill has also been impressive in helping limit opponents to 1.08 goals in the last seven as well. Leaman has recorded a pair of defensive saves this season, and Dzwill recorded her first career defensive save to help limit high-scoring Lock Haven to just two goals.

The La Salle offense has come alive as well, as the team is now outscoring opponents on the season (15-14). After scoring just one goal total in the first three games, the Explorers have averaged 2.00 goals per game since that time. Kreider leads the pack with nine points on four goals and one assist. Tettelbach jumped to the number two spot with seven points on three goals and one assist. Devin Muracco rounds out the top three with six points on two goals and two assists. A total of eight players have recorded at least one goal and 10 have recorded at least one point.

Scouting the Red Flash...

The Explorer defense will be put to the test against the nation's highest-scoring offense. The Red Flash rank first in the nation with 4.78 goals per game and have the nation's widest scoring margin by outscoring opponents by 3.65 goals per game. They have outscored opponents 43-10 this season. They also capitalize on penalty corners, earning a national-best 11.44 corners per game.
The Red Flash have outshot opponents 167-67, and 122-48 when counting just shots on goal.

That high-powered offense is led by Autumn Pellman, the nation's leading scorer with 1.67 goals per game (15 total goals). Carissa Makea ranks in the national top 20 with eight goals, along with four assists for 20 points. Nikki Snyder sets them up as she ranks third nationally with 1.22 assists per game (11 total). Selena Adamshick is also among the nation's leading helpers, ranking 11th with 0.89 assists per game (8 total). Adamshick has added six goals for a total of 20 points.

The Red Flash was the nation's last-remaining undefeated team before dropping a 3-2 decision at Massachusetts last weekend.

Samantha Zeiders handles the goalkeeping duties, and is sporting a 1.15 goals against average and .783 save percentage along with three shutouts. To accomplish that, she has only needed 36 total saves as she has faced just 48 shots on goal.

Scouting the Owls...

Temple, ranked No. 15 in this week's NFHCA poll, enters the weekend having won three of its last four. The lone loss was to No. 9 Penn State in its last game. The Owls dropped a 2-0 decision at home to the Nittany Lions. Prior to the Owl/Explorer matchup on Sunday, the Owls will host Villanova on Friday afternoon.

Temple has a Top 10 win on its resume this season, having knocked off then-No. 10 UMass 2-0 in the first weekend of the season. The Owls also played competitively against fourth-ranked Duke and third-ranked Maryland.

Amber Youtz leads the Owl offense with 25 points on 11 goals and three assists this season, ranking 15th nationally with 0.92 goals per game. Katie Foran is second in points with 11 on three goals and five assists, and Nicole Kroener rounds out the top three with nine points on three goals and three assists. Tricia Light ranks second on the squad with four goals, while Paige Gross is the team leader with seven assists.

Lizzy Millen has handled the majority of goalkeeping duties, and sports a 1.53 goals against average and .813 save percentage. Haley Mitchell has seen 75 minutes over four games in relief, recording a 1.84 GAA and .778 save percentage.
