KANSAS CITY – La Salle women's soccer assistant
Ally Kenney has been named Assistant Coach of the Year in the Mid-Atlantic region for the second time in her career, the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) announced Tuesday.
"Ally has worked incredibly hard to receive this great honor from the NSCAA and we're so excited to see her continue to evolve into one of the best coaches in the country," said head coach
Paul Royal. "You won't find many coaches in college soccer that have her drive, dedication and work ethic."
This season, Kenney helped lead the Explorers to an 8-0 mark in Atlantic 10 conference play and their fourth consecutive NCAA tournament appearance.
As La Salle's defensive coach, Kenney has guided
Courtney Niemiec (2012) and
Kerri Aiken (2014) to Atlantic 10 Defender of the Year awards.
"When you look at our success over the last four years, Ally is one of the biggest reasons why our players and teams have succeeded to new heights," added Royal. "Her genuine personality, high level of integrity and compassion in helping our players grow as people is second to none."
Kenney also won the award following the 2012 campaign, where she helped guide the club to the program's first ever Atlantic 10 Championship title and an undefeated regular season for the second straight year.
A former women's soccer standout at La Salle, Kenney graduated in 2010 and spent a season with the team as a volunteer assistant before becoming a full-time assistant in 2011.
