KANSAS CITY – La Salle women's soccer seniors
Kerri Aiken,
Kelsey Haycook,
Maryam Huseini and
Jessica Wiggins have been named to the NSCAA Scholar All-East Region team, the organization announced this week. Aiken and Haycook were named to the first team while Huseini earned a spot on the second team and Wiggins on the third.
The 2014 Atlantic 10 Defensive Player of the Year, Aiken maintains a 3.54 GPA as a criminal justice major and anchored a backline that allowed just three goals in league play as the Explorers went 8-0 in the A-10. The Vorhees, N.J native was recently named Academic All-Area and earned a spot on the A-10 All-Championship team following the conference tournament last month.
Haycook, who carries a 3.79 GPA as a nutrition major, was recently named a NSCAA Second Team All-American and an Academic All-American after a record-setting senior season with the Explorers.The Point Pleasant, N.J. native set the single-season record for goals (20) and points (43) this season.
The 2014 Atlantic 10 Offensive Player of the Year also finishes with the La Salle career records for goals (60) and points (142). Haycook is a semifinalist for the MAC Hermann Trophy and a finalist for the Soccer News Net College Boot award.
Huseini's 3.81 GPA as a psychology major earned her spots on the Academic All-Area and A-10 All-Academic teams after tallying 14 points this season. A First Team All-Conference selection for the second straight season, the Skien, Norway native is La Salle's all-time assists leader (38), and set the single-season record for assists with 13 last season. Huseini was also named to the All-Championship Team following the conference tournament.
Wiggins led the league in saves (95) this season and was stellar in conference play, surrendering only three goals in eight league games for a .38 goals against average. Wiggins, who was an A-10 First Team All-Conference A-10 All-Academic team selection, carries a 3.72 GPA as a speech pathology major. Â
La Salle was the only school in the East region to have four recipients on the list.
