PHILADELPHIA - La Salle Field Hockey Head Coach
Michelle Marks has announced the signing of seven student-athletes to National Letters of Intent to join the Explorers in the Fall 2014 season.
Three recruits hail from Pennsylvania, three from New Jersey and one from Maryland.
Eileen Dzwill (Medford Lakes, N.J./Bishop Eustace) will join the Explorers from South Jersey, where she was a four-year varsity starter and 2013 senior captain on the Bishop Eustace prep team. She earned First Team All-Olympic Conference honors as a senior, along with Second Team All-Conference in both her sophomore and junior seasons. Dzwill earned the Bishop Eustace Unsung Hero award twice. She has been a member of the National Futures Program since 2008, helping her squads to three gold medals in that time. Dzwill also competes with the Spirit of USA club program, helping her team to back-to-back golds in the National Field Hockey Festival in 2011 and 2012. She also lifted her club team to five medals in five years at the Disney Showcase.
Jessica Hoffman (Grasonville, Md./Kent Island) is a two-time captain and four-year starter at Kent Island, helping lead her team to the state semifinals twice. She was a 2013 First Team All-State pick after earning Second Team honors her junior year. She was also a gold medalist at the 2012 Junior Olympics and attended the 2012 and 2013 National Futures Championships. The speedy student-athlete is also one of the most decorated track athletes in Kent Island history, owning multiple school records. She was an 800-meter regional champion three times and finished as the state silver medalist in the 800 in 2012. She played club hockey for Freedom HKY under former U.S. National Team member Sarah Dawson.
Kendall Kreider (Annville, Pa./Palmyra) joins the Explorers after a terrific senior season in which she earned Regional All-American honors as well as First Team All-State honors. Kreider helped lead Palmyra High School to two PIAA District III championships (2011, 2013) as well as a 2013 MidPenn Keystone conference championship. In addition to her First Team pick as a senior, Kreider was a Second Team All-State pick as a junior. She earned All-Lebanon County all-star honors three straight years. Kreider also played for the PA Mavericks club team, where she led the U-16's to a 2012 USFHA National Championship title. She also lettered in track and soccer.
Sophie Lozowski (Wall, N.J./Wall Township) joins the Explorers from one of the top high school programs at the Jersey Shore. Lozowski led Wall Township High School to three Shore Conference B-North division titles in 2010, 2011 and 2013. She also helped the team to a Central Jersey Group 2 state title in 2013 and Central Jersey Group 3 state title in 2010. Individually, Lozowski's resume is impressive as well. She earned First Team All-Shore as a senior after earning Second Team All-Shore in both her sophomore and junior seasons. She was also a three-time all-divison pick in 2011, 2012 and 2013, as a Coast Start Honorable Mention Offensive Player of the Year twice. The three-sport athlete was also a four-year varsity lacrosse starter and was also a swimmer. Lozowski plays club ball with Surf and Sand Field Hockey Club.
Kaitlin O'Grady (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley) hails from central Pennsylvania where she was a three-year starter and four-year varsity player at Cumberland Valley. The senior co-captain helped lead her squad to a 2013 Commonwealth Divison title as well as to the district semifinals and state tournament. Her squad also captured the 2013 Hempfield Preseason Tournament title. O'Grady is also accomplished on the club circuit, as she was named to the East Coast Field Hockey Camp All-Star Team. She was also slected for the Junior Premiere Indoor League and qualified for both the 2012 and 2013 NIT.
Summer Pierson (Peach Bottom, Pa./Solanco) is a four-year varsity starter at Solanco High School in Quarryville, Pa. She was a two-time Lancaster-Lebanon All-Star Team pick in both 2012 and 2013. Pierson can play both sides of the ball, as she was the team's high scorer in 2011 before moving to defense and anchoring the backfield as a senior. She played club ball with Simply Field Hockey/Sutters Brigade, helping lead her team in three U-10 USA Field Hockey Festival tournaments including a gold medal performance in 2012. She also led the team to the U-19 National Indoor Tournament in 2012 and in the U-19 Disney Showcase in 2010 and 2011. The two-sport athlete also played soccer in high school, earning Defensive Player of the Year honors in 2011.
April Stein (Ocean City, N.J./Ocean City) joins the Explorer squad from one of the South Jersey powerhouses in Ocean City. She helped lead Ocean City to four straight Cape-Atlantic League titles, back-to-back Group 3 State Championship titles and back-to-back South Jersey Group 3 Championship titles. The midfielder picked up a list of honors as a senior this past season, including Third Team New Jersey State All-Group 3. Stein was also the top midfield vote getter in earning First Team Cape-Atlantic League All-Conference honors and was also a First Team pick by the
Press of Atlantic City. In addition, she earned
Courier Post Second Team All-South Jersey honors and Second Team All-South Jersey by the Field Hockey Club of South Jersey. Stein competed on the Spirit of USA club team, helping lift her squad to a gold medal at the 2013 Disney Showcase and silver medal at the 2012 showcase.
