Complete Release (PDF)

PHILADELPHIA- Following their third consecutive NCAA tournament appearance, the La Salle women's soccer team has been picked to finish second in the Atlantic 10 Conference in preseason voting conducted by the league's head coaches. In addition, four Explorers— Kelsey Haycook, Maryam Huseini, Jessica Wiggins and Kerri Aiken —were named to the preseason all-conference teams.

The Explorers won 15 games last season on their way to their second straight Atlantic 10 Tournament Championship, defeating Dayton on penalty kicks in the final. The Blue and Gold previously knocked off George Washington and Massachusetts in the tournament to earn an automatic NCAA tournament bid.

Haycook returns as last year's leading scorer and recipient of NSCAA All-Mid-Atlantic Region recognition for the third straight year. The senior finished tied for first in the Atlantic 10 in points with 41 while earning the A-10 Player of the Week award three times. Meanwhile, Huseini appeared in 22 games as a midfielder last season on her way setting the program's single-season record for assists with 13, moving her into third place all-time in assists (26).

Wiggins earned the starting role in goal for La Salle midway through last season but still managed to lead the league in shutouts (nine), goals against average (0.46) and save percentage (.877). Aiken helped anchor a defense that limited opponents to .78 goals per game while contributing seven points (three goals, one assist).

The Explorers open the season at Boston University on Friday, August 22nd.
