All-Time Series vs. Spiders
Richmond owns a 15-6 all-time lead in the series that dates back to 1987, and has won the last nine straight. The Spiders captured last year's meeting, 56-39, at Gola Arena despite a double-double of 11 points and 12 rebounds from Alicia Cropper. Jasmine Alston added 11 in that contest, while Richmond's Janelle Hubbard led all with 18 points. The two teams met in a nonconference matchup the year prior at the Robins Center, with the Spiders taking a close call 67-62. Three of the last four contests have been decided by five points or less.

Scouting the Explorers
The Explorers have gone 2-2 in their last four contests, dropping their last game 72-66 to Duquesne. They dug out of an early hole to knot the game at 44-44 in the second half, but Duquesne regained the lead for good on a 20-8 run. Micahya Owens put together a solid offensive game with 17 points on 8-for-15 shooting. Alston and Siobhan Beslow added 11 apiece.

Owens improved her season average to 13.8 ppg, which leads all Explorer scorers. She is shooting 35.3 percent overall and 32.5 percent from long range, while chipping in 3.4 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game.

Cropper is averaging 13.0 ppg, and leads the team in scoring against Atlantic 10 opponents with an average of 13.2 ppg. She is still near the 80 percent range at the free throw line, hitting 77.9 percent of her attempts to lead the squad in that category. Cropper also pulls down 4.9 boards per game and dishes out 2.3 assists per game, both of which rank second on the team.

Beslow continues to round out the top three scorers with an average of 7.9 ppg. She leads the team with 5.9 rpg, and has been among the league leaders in offensive rebounds all season. With 172 career offensive boards, she needs just 14 more to crack the program's all-time top 10 list.

Jasmine Alston has earned the start in a number of recent games, and continues to lead the Atlantic 10 with 2.4 steals per game. She also dishes out 3.4 assists per outing, a number that improves to 3.7 apg when counting only A-10 games. The sophomore adds 6.1 ppg and 4.8 rpg as well.

The Explorers are averaging 62.3 ppg on the season, yielding 65.3 to opponents.

Scouting the Spiders
The Spiders enter the weekend with a 7-4 record in A-10 play and are looking to bounce back from a 79-41 loss to Dayton on Wednesday. Lauren Tolson was the lone Spider to hit double figures with 11 points, as the squad shot a combined 25.0 percent against the Flyers. The Spiders were winners of three straight prior to that, including victories over Rhode Island, VCU and Saint Louis.

Richmond is 9-2 at the Robins Center this year, with home losses to Dayton and Hampton.

Janelle Hubbard leads a trio of Spiders in double figures as she averages 13.9 ppg. Hubbard shoots 40.1 percent from the field and has hit 42 of her 98 long range attempts (42.9%). She chips in 2.6 boards and 1.4 assists per outing.

Lauren Tolson is second on the squad with 12.8 ppg behind 37.3 percent shooting from the field. She is another three-point threat, nailing 40 treys this year. Hubbard and Tolson are a dangerous duo at the free throw line, averaging 82.1 and 87.1 percent respectively at the charity stripe.

Genevieve Okoro rounds out the top three with 10.5 ppg. Okoro is the most consistent shooter on the team with a 49.4 percent showing this season.

The Spiders average 64.5 ppg as a team while giving up 62.2. As a team, they are shooting just shy of 40 percent (39.9%) overall and 34.4 percent from three. Behind Hubbard and Tolson, they are one of the league's better free throw teams with a 71.3 percent clip.

Defensively, the Spiders have recorded 40.9 rebounds per game while limiting opponents to 36.2.

Next Up
The Explorers return home next Thursday for the second meeting of the year with Rhode Island. They will look to avenge the earlier season overtime loss to the Rams, with tipoff set for 7 p.m. The game is this year's designated pink game, with the team sporting pink gear for breast cancer awareness.
