PHILADELPHIA- Freshman Valerie Pineiro was named Atlantic 10 Freshman of the Week and ECAC Division 1 South Rookie of the Week on Monday following her performance over the weekend in a sweep of St. Bonaventure.
 
The Audubon, N.J. native went 6-6 with three home runs, eight RBIs and three runs scored in the 6-2, 10-5 doubleheader sweep over the Bonnies on Saturday at West Campus Field. The freshman hit a grand slam in game one to help La Salle jump out to a 4-0 lead from which they wouldn't look back. In game two Pineiro hit a pair of solo homers in the second and fifth innings while adding an RBI single to help fuel La Salle to the 10-5 win. She finished the week with a 1.000 on-base percentage and a 2.500 slugging percentage.
 
Pineiro and the Explorers hit the road to take on Lafayette in a doubleheader on Wednesday beginning at three before returning home for a weekend series against Rhode Island.
