Four Qualify for IC4A/ECAC, Szekely Sets School Record at Swarthmore

SWARTHMORE, Pa.- Three La Salle men and one woman ran times fast enough to qualify them for the ECAC/IC4A Championships this weekend at Princeton during the Swarthmore Last Chance Meet on Monday afternoon and evening.
 
Freshman Morgan Szekely ran a 2:06.81 in the 800 meters which broke a school record that had stood for 14 years. The time broke Toni Ann Razzi's school record of 2:07.40 that she set in 2001. Szekely finished third in the race and was the top collegian finisher in the 49 women field. Senior Cayleigh Solano and juniors Shannon Dwyer and Kate Conville also raced in the event. Solano won her heat with a 2:11.18 time which was good for fifth overall while setting her outdoor personal record. Dwyer ran a 2:12.35 for a tenth place finish while Conville finished in 2:18.38 for 25th place overall.
 
Seniors Nick Ross and Vince Perozze both qualified for the IC4A Championship thanks to their times in the 1500 meters race. Ross finished in fourth with a 3:46.74 which was his fastest in the event this season. Perozze was close behind finishing in 14th thanks to a 3:50.41 time. Sophomore Stephen Lewandowski finished 22nd in the 113 man field with a 3:52.27 time while freshman Trent Mangold set a personal record thanks to his 4:05.60 and junior Alex Gallo finished in 4:18.75 in the race.
 
Sophomore Chris Sanders ran a 1:50.34 time in the 800 meters to qualify for the IC4A Championships. His time was good for third in the 86 man field. Junior Chris Trimble ran a 1:55.58 for a 39th place finish while sophomore Dallas Penny set a personal record thanks to a 2:01.63 in the event.
 
Sophomore David Ozarowski ran a season best time of 9:22.16 in the 3000 meter steeplechase to finish in eighth place out of 27 entries.
 
Senior Katie Boligitz closed out her collegian running career with a personal record in the 5000 meter run thanks to a time of 18:18.41 for a 15th place finish.
 
La Salle will head to the IC4A/ECAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Princeton this weekend with the action running from Friday through Sunday.
