Explorers Host Penn Monday in Big 5 Action

PHILADELPHIA – La Salle hosts the Penn Quakers in Tom Gola Arena on Monday evening in their final nonconference game of the season. Tipoff for the Big 5 matchup is scheduled for 7 p.m.

All-Time Series
The Explorers are 33-9 all-time against Penn in a rivalry that dates back to 1974. 

Scouting the Explorers
-Micahya Owens poured in a team-high 20 points on Saturday to move past Majorie Rhoads ('01) and Jennifer McGowan ('93) into 21st place on the all-time scoring list with 1,054 career points. Saturday marked the fifth time this season the junior has scored at least 20 points. 

-Amy Griffin leads the A-10 in scoring (17.6 ppg) and has scored in double figures in all nine games since returning from injury against North Texas (12/16). The sophomore is averaging 18.6 points per game in five conference games this season. 

-Jasmine Alston needs just five steals to catch Carlene Hightower ('08) for 10th on the all-time career list. The junior has 161 thefts on her career, and is leading the A-10 with 2.2 steals per game this season. 

-Alston is third in the Atlantic 10 in assists this season with 5.7 per game this season and is leading the league with 6.6 assists per game since the start of league play. 

-Freshman Adreana Miller has scored in double figures in back-to-back games for the second time this season, dropping 11 points at GW on Wednesday and adding 13 against Rhode Island on Saturday. The Somerset, N.J. native is 5-for-12 from three-point range in her last two games. 

Scouting the Quakers
-The Quakers edged rival Princeton 50-48 last Saturday for their fifth consecutive victory. Penn recorded four-consecutive stops to end the game, including two in the final eight seconds. 

-The Quakers are off to their best start in program history, and are one nonconference win shy of tying a program record.

-The Quakers have now earned four-consecutive Ivy League Player of the Week awards as Sydney Stipanovich picked up her third recognition of the season last Monday. The junior recorded her fourth double-double of the season against Princeton, going for 12 points and 11 rebounds. 

-Michelle Nwokedi, who blocked the game-tying shot attempt at the buzzer against Princeton, has a team-high six double-doubles this season.  The sophomore leads the league in rebounding (10.8), and is slotted fourth in the conference in scoring (15.3 ppg).
