NEWPORT NEWS, Va. –
Kaitlin Poiesz was named to the women's cross country Atlantic 10 Academic All-Conference team, the A-10 office announced Tuesday. Student-athletes are selected based on their performance on the trails and in the classroom.
Poiesz earned her second consecutive All-Conference nod at the A-10 Cross Country Championship last month by finishing second, and has a 3.77 GPA as a Nursing major.
The junior was strong all season, finishing 21st of 215 runners at Princeton Invitational (10/15), 87th in a field of 405 at Paul Short Run (10/1), and 19th at Main Line Invitational (9/16).
To be nominated, runners must have a GPA of 3.0 or better (on a 4.0 scale) for their entire academic career. The teams were selected through voting conducted by the league's Sports Information Directors.
