Explorers Host VCU on Sunday

PHILADELPHIA–  The La Salle women's basketball team returns home to host the VCU Rams on Sunday afternoon for an Atlantic 10 matchup at Tom Gola Arena. Tipoff is set for 1 p.m.

The Explorers are 2-1 all-time against VCU, who joined the Atlantic 10 in 2012. 
 
Scouting the Explorers
-Micahya Owens poured in 21 points at Rhode Island on Wednesday, marking the sixth time this season she has scored at least 20 points. The performance moved her past Suzanne Keilty (1,097 carer pts, 1998-02) and Mary Heller (1,098 career pts, 1990-94) into 19th on the all-time scoring list. She now has 1,119 career points.
 
-Jasmine Alston is one of two player in the A-10 (Duquesne's April Robinson) averaging at least 6.0 assists and 6.0 rebounds per game this season. The junior was named D1 Women's Basketball HERO Of The Week via a fan vote on Monday for her 15-assist, 12-rebound effort against Saint Louis
 
-Amy Griffin leads the A-10 in scoring, averaging 18.3 points per game this season. The sophomore is also averaging a league-best 19.8 ppg since the start of conference play.
 
Scouting the Rams
-VCU is coming off a 52-47 defeat of St. Bonaventure on Wednesday, and the Rams have won three of their last four games.
 
-The Rams caused 15 turnovers against SBU to continue their season-long streak of forcing double-digit turnovers. The Black and Gold lead the Atlantic 10 in turnovers forced (411) and turnover margin (+4.30).
 
-The Rams defense has been stifling all season, allowing opponents just 55.1 points per game (2nd in the A-10). VCU has held opponents under 50 points in 11 of 23 games this year.
 
-VCU also works hard on the offensive glass, pulling down 14.1 offensive rebounds per game (2nd in the league).
