NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Senior Deja Davis and junior Paige McDowell were named to the Preseason Atlantic 10 All-Conference team as defenders while La Salle was picked to finish fourth in a vote conducted by the league's 14 head coaches.   
 
McDowell earned Atlantic 10 All-Conference First Team and All-Rookie nods as a freshman in 2014 while Davis finished second on the team in both points (nine) and assists (three) last season. Both McDowell and Davis started all 21 games for the Explorers in 2015.
 
The Blue and Gold were picked to finish fourth after appearing in a sixth straight A-10 tournament semifinal last November. The Dayton Flyers were named the favorite to win the league for the eighth straight year.
 
The Explorers open their season this weekend in the Wake Forest Invitational. La Salle will take on NC State on Friday night before squaring off with the Demon Deacons on Sunday.
