SWARTHMORE, Pa. - The La Salle women's tennis team competed at the Swarthmore Invitational this weekend to begin its fall season.
In singles competition,
Ali Snyder began her collegiate career with a victory over Julia Gan of Haverford, 6-1, 6-1. In the second round, she lost to Vassar's Kate Christensen 6-1, 6-1.
Freshman
Tiffany Theophil lost her first match 3-6, 7-6, 10-8 to Haverford's Emily Shutman but came back to win in the second round. She beat Vassar's Connie Yoo, 6-2, 7-5.
In doubles, Snyder and Theopil teamed up for a second roudn win over Shutman/Gan of Haverford, 8-1. They lost in the first round to Swarthmore's Shirline Wee and Emma Kassan, 8-3.
Ally Santerelli and
Jade Smith had a second round win over Jessica Liu and Abbey Payson of Haverford, 8-2. They lost in the first round, 8-1 to Vassar's doubles team.
The Explorers are idle until visiting the Main Line for the Villanova Invitational on September 30.Â
