FULL RESULTS
STATEN ISLAND, N.Y.- The La Salle women's track and field team competed at the Great Dane Classic on Saturday, hosted by the University of Albany. The Explorers opened the 2017 season against 45 other teams and clubs. Â
Kaleah Miller brought in four points for the La Salle effort when she leapt 5.39m in the long jump to lead the Explorers.
Jessica Bryant jumped 10.52m in the triple jump to place 15
th overall.
Two Explorers opened the day in the 60m hurdles event.
Mone't Gist finished 13
th overall in the preliminary round, while
Shelby Francis sprinted a 9.35 time to finish 18
th.
La Salle was represented by three runners in the 60m dash preliminary round.
Ariel Mitchell led the way for the Explorers, placing 12
th overall with a 7.90 time. Gist followed with a 8.14 time to finish 23
rd, while
Tyller Moorer sprinted a 8.45 to finish 39
th on the day.
A pair of Explorers competed in the mile run, with
Kaitlin Poiesz leading the way with a 12
th place finish in a time of 5:08.38. Freshman
Grace Mancini placed 14
th with a time of 5:12.51.
In the 3000m race,
Michelle Myland raced to a 10:33.43 time to place 19
th overall, while
Olivia Boyer ran a 10:42.01 to finish 24
th.
Freshman
Desirae Osley paced the Explorers in the 400m dash, running a 59.72 time to finish 22
nd overall.
Amber Jenkins followed just behind in 23
rd with a time of 1:00.17. Sprinting a 1:02.43,
Shelby Francis placed 43
rd, while
Corrine Davis ran a 1:09.22 to finish 43
rd overall.
A freshman duo represented La Salle in the 500m sprint, with
Capri Laurence running a 1:22.70 to finish 27
th, while
Devon Barr placed 29
th with a 1:24.05 time.
Jenkins led a quad of Explorers in the 200m sprint, running a 25.75 time to finish 24
th overall. Osley finished 31
st overall in 26.05, while
Ariel Mitchell sprinted a 26.16 time to finish 35
th in the event. Moorer ran 28.34 in the field of 68 runners.
A 4x400 relay team of Francis, Laurence, Barr and Moorer ran a cumulative time of 4:17.24 to place 19
th overall.
The Explorers will continue their indoor season at the Gotham Cup on Jan. 20 on Staten Island, N.Y.
