ANNAPOLIS, Md. - Senior Joe Markmann shot a one-over par round of 72 and is tied with five other golfers in second place after the first day of the Navy Spring Invitational on Saturday. As a team, the La Salle men's golf team shot 310 and is tied for eighth in the 11-team field.

Playing as an individual, Markmann's top round of the season puts him one shot back of Wagner's Lucas Moreno heading into the final 18 holes, which are scheduled to be played on Sunday, April 23.

Senior P.J. Acierno was the top team scorer for La Salle, closing at four-over par 75 to stand in a tie for 15th place. Sophomores Nick Gruber and Nick Geiman are tied for 32nd at 78, freshman Evan Gaesser is one shot behind those two players at 79 and junior Brandon Raihl rounded out the contingent of Explorers.

George Mason holds a three-shot lead over Saint Joseph's in the team portion of the competition at 296.
