PHILADELPHIA – The men's soccer team opened its season with four goals in match that went to double overtime with Loyola (Md.). In the match, redshirt senior
Matt Robinson found the back of the net and also recorded two assists. Robinson was the team's leading scorer last season. Syracuse transfer
Kenny Lassiter scored his first goal for the Blue and Gold on a header in front of the net. The most dramatic goal of the game was by
Sixtus Akinlosotu on a breakaway while La Salle had just ten men on the field.
This weekend, La Salle travels to Chicago for the Double Tree by Hilton North Shore Chicago Classic. The Explorers will look to bounce back from the loss after a week away from the pitch. Their opponents include DePaul and Loyola (Ill.). The latter match will be broadcast nationally on ESPN3.

Scouting the DePaul Blue Demons

- Philipp Konigstein scored two of DePaul's four goals this season. The midfielder senior scored three in 19 games last season
- Other goals were scored by Stijn Van der Slot and Istvan Wilhelms. The latter was recently named Big East Freshman of the Week
- DePaul is out-shooting its opponents this year, 28-25

Scouting the Loyola (Ill.) Ramblers
- The Ramblers played just one game this year, a 2-1 comeback win over Xavier in overtime to open the season
- After a slow start, Loyola (Ill.) out-shot the Musketeers, 10-5, after halftime
- Loyola (Ill.) was projected to win the Missouri Valley Conference prior to the season. This marks two of La Salle's first three opponents who were picked to win their conference (Loyola (Md.))
