PHILADELPHIA – The La Salle women's cross country team finished fifth at the Lehigh Invitational on the Goodman Campus Cross Country Course to open their season on Friday evening.
"Since it's so early in the season, we treated today as a workout, both teams had instruction to stay as a pack and control their effort," said head coach
Tom Peterson. "The team left today with a lot of quality miles and good information about where we stand. I'm very pleased with both squads."
Michelle Myland,
Kaitlin Poiesz, and
Grace Mancini finished consecutively within a second of each other in 23
rd, 24
th and 25
th. Myland crossed the finish line in 23:14.11, Poiesz in 23:14.38 and Mancini in 23:14.51.
Emily Ward clocked 23:17.85 to finish 30
th while freshman
Allana Powlette was La Salle's final scorer with a time of 23:48.90.
The Explorers will turn their attention to the Iona Meet of Champions in Van Cortland Park on September 15.
