PHILADELPHIA – The La Salle University field hockey team (5-6) will compete in the Philadelphia Classic hosted at Saint Joseph's University this weekend. The Explorers will face off against Holy Cross (1-9) on Sunday, Oct. 7 at 3:00 p.m. on Ellen Ryan Field.
ABOUT LA SALLE
- The Explorers fell to Saint Louis, 3-2, in a shootout last Friday. Oh and junior Lauren Lechleitner scored the two goals for La Salle, marking Lechleitner's first on the season.
- La Salle returned to the field on Sunday to defeat LIU Brooklyn, 9-1, in a game that saw several Explorers reach season highs including seniors Mackenzie Karcher and Logan Oh as well as sophomore Rialee Allen.
- Karcher had two assists as well as three goals, four shots, and three shots on goal. Oh had seven shots with six on goal and recorded one goal while Allen registered two goals, three shots and two shots on goal.
- Goalkeeper Emma Provost ranks among the top five in the A-10 in saves (52), save percentage (.712), and goals-against-average (2.11).
SCOUTING HOLY CROSS
- The Crusaders defeated Colgate, 4-0, last week earning their first win of the season.
- Senior Emily Loprete leads Holy Cross and the Patriot League offensively in goals on the year (7).
- Goalkeeper Marcia LaPlante tops the league in saves (131) and saves/game (13.10).
