Women’s Basketball Hits the Road to Battle Harvard on Wednesday

PHILADELPHIA – The La Salle women's basketball team (0-2) is scheduled to battle Harvard (0-2) on Wednesday, continuing the team's stretch of road games. Tipoff is slated for 7 p.m. from Cambridge, Mass. with the game being broadcast on ESPN+.
 
SCOUTING THE EXPLORERS:
  • La Salle enters Wednesday's game with an 0-2 record after falling to Robert Morris on the road this past Sunday, 67-39.
  • Freshman Shayla Sweeney had a career performance against the Colonials, scoring 11 points, while shooting 8-of-10 from the charity stripe.
  • ­­The Staten Island, N.Y. native, sophomore Rayshel Brown is pacing her squad in points with 8.0 per game, while also sitting as the team's second-best rebounder with 7.0 per game.
  • Junior Shalina Miller sits atop the rebounding category, averaging 10.0 per game. The Philadelphia, Pa. native is also second on the team in scoring with 7.0 points per game.
  • Head coach Mountain MacGillivray seeks his first career win. 
SCOUTING THE CRIMSON:
  • Harvard sits at 0-2 after falling to No. 1 Notre Dame and Purdue to start the season. Most recently, the Crimson dropped a game at Purdue, 66-65.
  • Wednesday's matchup will be Harvard's first home game of the 2018-19 campaign.
  • The Crimson have two scorers averaging double digits as senior Nani Redford tops with team with 12.0 points per game and classmate Sydney Skinner has 10.5 points per game.
  • Collectively, Harvard is shooting 35.4% from the field, including 33.3% from long range.
THE SERIES:
  • La Salle and Harvard have met four times heading into Wednesday's matchup with the Crimson leading the series, 3-1, including winning three straight.
  • Last time these two teams met was in January of 2018 with Harvard coming out on top, 61-70. In last year's game, both teams shot over 45% from the floor.
  • The Explorers lone win in the series came when the two teams first met in 1994.
