PHILADELPHIA – The La Salle women's basketball team (0-6) flies to Oregon this weekend to take on #9/9 Oregon State (5-1) on Saturday. Tipoff is scheduled for 3 p.m. EST with the game being aired on the PAC 12 Networks. This is the first time the Explorers have taken on a ranked opponent since the team battled #20 Villanova last December.
SCOUTING THE EXPLORERS:
- La Salle is coming off of a loss to Drexel, 58-43, on Wednesday.
- The Explorers were led by senior Jeryn Reese with seven points against the Dragons, while sophomore Deja King, and freshmen Janay Sanders and Shayla Sweeney each dropped six points apiece.
- Pacing the team in scoring this season is sophomore Rayshel Brown. She is averaging .5 points per game with a 45% field goal rate. That percentage is the 10th best in the conference.
- Not far behind is junior Shalina Miller, who is averaging 7.3 points per game. The Philadelphia, Pa. native leads the Explorers with 6.5 rebounds per game.
SCOUTING THE BEAVERS:
- After opening the season on a 5-0 run, which included a win over the 2017 national champion #13/12 South Carolina Gamecocks, the nationally ranked Beavers enter Saturday's contest off of their first loss of the season to #1 Notre Dame.
- The Beavers have four players averaging double-digit point totals per game with the team posting 80.3 points per contest.
- Collectively, Oregon State is shooting 48.7 percent from the floor, including 41.1% from beyond the arc.
- Destiny Slocum paces the team with 16.8 points per game, while Mikayla Pivec adds 15.3 points and leads the squad with 8.8 rebounds per game.
THE SERIES:
- Saturday's contest will mark the first time that the two teams have squared off in program history.
