Grace Mancini of the La Salle University women's cross country team placed second at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional on Friday to qualify for the NCAA Cross Country National Championship.
As a team, the Explorers finished 11th among 30 squads in the region.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Mancini ran the 6K course at Penn State University's Blue and White Courses in 21:09, with a 5:40 pace, to claim a runner-up finish out of 205 runners. She becomes the first La Salle woman to advance to Nationals since Morgan Szekely did so in 2015.
- It was the Mancini sisters leading La Salle once again, as freshmen Liz Mancini and Eleanor Mancini joined Grace in the top 100. Liz placed 30th with a time of 21:52, while Eleanor was 88th with a mark of 22:56.
- Sophomore Lexi Sciortino posted a time of 23:15, with classmate Deirdre Gilmore not far behind with a time of 23:22.
- Redshirt senior Megan Connell completed the course in 23:27, while sophomore Allana Powlette was next in 23:28.

- Grace moves on to the National Championship, which will be held in Madison, Wis., on Saturday, Nov. 17.
