Explorers Visit GW on Thursday, UMass on Sunday

PHILADELPHIA – The La Salle women's basketball team is on the road this week as they visit George Washington on Thursday before a Sunday matchup at Massachusetts. 
 
Scouting the Explorers
-La Salle went 1-1 in two home games last week, defeating VCU 62-57 on Thursday before falling to Saint Joseph's 75-64 on Sunday.
 
-The Explorers outscored Saint Joseph's 22-8 in the 4th quarter to make a run at the Hawks but couldn't overcome a slow start.
 
-Senior Amy Griffin was named Big 5 Player of the Week on Tuesday after averaging 21.5 points over two games last week, including a 26-point performance in the win over VCU. Griffin also averaged 3.5 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 2.5 steals over the two games.
 
-Griffin currently leads the Explorers in scoring (15.4 ppg), assists (3.7 apg), steals (1.9 spg) and blocks (1.4 bpg) this season.
 
-Adreana Miller hit a career-high 10 free throws against Saint Joseph's, going 10-for-12 from the line on Sunday. The junior is 7th in the Atlantic 10 this season in foul shooting at 82.6 percent (71-for-86). 
 
-Amy Griffin is also two steals shy (168 career steals) from cracking the top 10 list in program history. Jen Zenszer (1997-01) is currently 10th with 170 career steals.

Scouting the Colonials

-George Washington fell to Saint Louis in overtime at home on Saturday as the Billikens hit a buzzer-beater to edge the Colonials, 72-69.
 
-Kelli Prange earned A-10 Player of the Week on Monday after averaging 25.5 points over two games. The senior went for 36 points against Rhode Island on Wednesday and followed with 15 points on Sunday.
 
-Brianna Cummings finished with a game-high 20 points and a career-high six assists against SLU. The senior had zero turnovers while pulling down five rebounds and tying her career-high with three blocks.
 
-GW leads the A-10 in steals per game, averaging 9.0 per contest. Mei-Lyn Bautista (2.4/game) and Cummings (1.4/game) both rank in the top five in the conference.

Scouting the Minutewomen

-UMass dropped a 51-39 decision to Richmond at home on Wednesday to lower their Atlantic 10 record to 2-7.
 
-Maggie Mulligan had a double-double against Richmond with 17 points and 13 rebounds, both game-highs. The senior has tallied career 28 double-doubles, and is averaging 10.7 points and 9.6 rebounds per game this season.  
 
-Hailey Leidel leads the Minutewomen in scoring with 15.9 points per game, which is 8th in the conference. Bre Hampton-Bey (11.5 ppg), Genesis Rivera (11.0) and Mulligan also score in double figures for UMass.
 
-The 39 points UMass scored against Richmond is their lowest point total this season, and the first time the Minutewomen have scored fewer than 40 points in a game since a 55-38 loss to St. Bonaventure (1/19/17).  
 
-The Minutewomen are 6-5 at the Mullins Center this season, but just 1-3 at home during conference play.
