La Salle Visits Crosstown Rival Saint Joseph’s Saturday

PHILADELPHIA – The La Salle women's basketball team will make the short trip across town to take on the Saint Joseph's Hawks on Saturday afternoon at Hagan Arena. Tipoff is slated for 1 p.m.

Scouting the Explorers
-La Salle fell 66-45 at Fordham on Tuesday, struggling to score against Fordham's nationally-ranked defense. 
 
-The Explorers are participating in the Coaches vs. Cancer three-point challenge, and have hit 29 threes through five games this month. Help La Salle beat cancer on the court by pledging for every 3-pointer they make during the month of February. Please click here to pledge.  
 
-Freshman Rayshel Brown scored a season-high 12 points on Tuesday, going 5-for-8 from the field and 2-for-2 from the line in a season-high 24 minutes off the bench. 
 
-Freshman Jasmine White played a season-high 25 minutes on Tuesday after playing 19 minutes on Saturday against Richmond. The forward is averaging 2.5 points and 5.0 rebounds over the two games. 
 
-Adreana Miller, who finished with 12 points at Fordham, has scored in double figures in 11 of her last 12 games. The junior leads La Salle with 16.1 points per game in conference play.  
 
-Shaquana Edwards is averaging 3.2 assists per game in A-10 play, which ranks 9th in the league. 
 
-Amy Griffin is the only player in the Atlantic 10 to appear in the top 10 in the league in both steals and blocks per game. The senior is averaging 1.9 steals (6th) and 1.4 blocks per game (6th) this season.
 
Scouting the Hawks
-Senior Chelsea Woods hit a layup with :05 left to lift Saint Joseph's to a 64-62 victory at Davidson on Wednesday, extending their winning streak to three games. The Hawks beat Rhode Island 64-46 at home last Wednesday before a 69-50 win at Duquesne on Saturday.  
 
-Woods paces the Hawks in scoring and rebounding with 14.4 points and 8.1 rebounds per game. Sarah Veilleux (13.8 ppg), Alyssa Monaghan (10.8), Amanda Fioravanti (10.4) and Adashia Franklyn (10.1) all average double figures for Saint Joseph's.
 
-The Hawks defeated La Salle in their previous meeting, 75-64, at Tom Gola Arena on January 28. Franklyn led SJU with 19 points and 15 rebounds in the win.
 
-Saint Joseph's head coach Cindy Griffin earned her 350th career victory in Saturday's win over Duquesne. Griffin has posted a 351-258 mark as a head coach, with 303 of those wins coming at Hawk Hill.
 
-The Hawks will honor their senior class with a postgame presentation.
