Scouting the Explorers
-La Salle put together a 4
th quarter rally at Massachusetts on Sunday, getting to within a possession of tying the game four different times over the final 3:02 before falling 69-66.
-
Adreana Miller led all scorers with 23 points, and is averaging a team-best 16.0 points per game in A-10 play.
-
Shaquana Edwards notched her first career double-double at UMass thanks to a season-high 10 assists on top of 11 points.
-
Amy Griffin has blocked nine shots over her last two games, and now has 142 blocks for her career. The Atlanta, Ga. native needs just six blocks to pass Linda French (1982-87) as La Salle's all-time leading shot-blocker.
-Griffin also finished with 14 points on Sunday to reach 1,644 for her career, which is one point shy of tying Crista Ricketts (2003-07) for third place on La Salle's all-time scoring list. The senior also pulled down a team-high 10 rebounds to register her second double-double of the year.
-Wednesday night is the inaugural "La Salle Has Heart" game in recognition of American Heart Month, and the Explorers will be wearing red shoe laces to show support for the initiative. The American Heart Association's Go Red For Women team will be at the game to distribute information and raise money for the cause.
Scouting the Billikens
-Saint Louis defeated Fordham, 91-85, in double overtime on Wednesday before handing Davidson an 88-72 defeat on Sunday.
-Senior Maddison Gits was named Atlantic 10 Co-Player of the Week on Monday after averaging 24.5 points and 14.5 rebounds last week. The forward had a career-high 34 points and 15 rebounds against Fordham before posting her eighth double-double of the season against Davidson with 15 points and 14 rebounds.
-Senior Jackie Kemph
leads the Billikens in scoring (14.7 ppg) and owns a commanding lead in assists in the A-10 with 7.8 per game.
-With Sunday's win, the Billiken seniors became the winningest class in program history with 79 wins. The class of 2017 held the previous record with 78 victories.
-Saint Louis has a 32-10 record in A-10 games since the beginning of the 2015-16 season, which is tied with George Washington for the top spot in the conference.
