LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. - The La Salle University men's tennis team snapped a three-match losing skid with a resounding 7-0 victory over Rider on Tuesday.
The momentum began to build with doubles action, as the duo of
Patrick Pascual and
Joe DiOrio swept Rider's team at the No. 2 spot, 6-0. Senior
Tomas Christian and junior
Francesco Mowrey earned a 6-1 win at No. 1 to put the Explorers up by a 1-0 score in the team competition.
In singles, Mowrey earned a relatively easy 6-1, 6-3 win over Diego Delgado at No. 1. Freshman
Connor Merrill did not allow his opponent to win a game in the opening set of a 6-0, 6-4 victory at No. 2, while classmate
Rogelio Gonzalez took a 6-4, 6-2 decision from Lysa Payano Almonte at No. 3.
Also victorious for La Salle were senior
Tomas Christian, who won the first and third sets by 6-0 scores, and sophomore
Andrija Bozovic who defeated Brian Villareal, 6-2, 6-2. The Explorers also earned a team point by default at No. 6 singles.
La Salle will look to continue its winning ways on Friday, April 13 against Delaware.Â
